Why teams leave SharePoint
Document libraries hold the sensitive files
Contracts, HR records, board papers. With Nextcloud on your own machines, those libraries sit in the country you choose, on storage you control.
Files and knowledge, kept apart
SharePoint sites often mix document storage with intranet pages. Nextcloud holds the files; Outline holds the pages people read and edit, each built for its job.
Permissions you can explain
Group folders in Nextcloud and collections in Outline follow groups from your directory. A leaver loses access everywhere at once.

Self-hosted document management and intranet
SharePoint does a great deal: document libraries, intranet sites, lists, workflows and tight integration with Office and Teams. Over the years many sites turn into a mix of all of these, which is why moving off SharePoint starts with sorting rather than copying.
Nextcloud takes the document libraries: group folders per team, a desktop sync client, versioning and file locking, with Collabora Online for editing Word, Excel and PowerPoint files in the browser. Outline takes the pages people read: policies, procedures and team documentation. BookStack does the same job under an open-source licence, with pages arranged in shelves, books and chapters. Pilae deploys them on your premises or on dedicated machines in Switzerland and the EU, as part of our sovereign workplace.
Moving off SharePoint without losing access control
The copy is routine. The work is in the permissions and in the lists and flows built on top of SharePoint. We inventory every site, rebuild access against your directory and plan the flows that still run, as part of the fixed-price migration. Moving from SharePoint to Nextcloud
Inventory the sites
Every site, library and list, how much it holds, when it was last used and who owns it. Dormant sites are archived rather than moved.
Sort files from pages
Libraries go to Nextcloud group folders. Site pages that are documentation go to Outline. Lists that behave like databases are flagged and planned on their own.
Copy and rebuild permissions
Files copy with their folder structure and current versions. SharePoint permissions do not transfer, so access is rebuilt against your directory groups and checked with each owner.
Switch on an agreed day
A final delta copy runs, SharePoint goes read-only and links in other tools are repointed. Licences end at the next renewal.
