Data and streaming apps, operated for you

The event streams, pipelines and stores a data team runs, placed next to the systems that produce the data rather than in a vendor region.

Start with one workloadAll apps

Apache Kafka

Event streaming from the Apache Software Foundation, run as a KRaft cluster beside the systems that produce your events rather than in a vendor's cloud.

Replaces Confluent Cloud, Amazon MSK, Azure Event Hubs

Apache Flink

Stateful stream processing from the Apache Software Foundation, run next to your Kafka topics, with checkpoints and savepoints in object storage you control.

Replaces Confluent Cloud for Apache Flink, Amazon Managed Service for Apache Flink, Ververica Cloud

Apache NiFi

Data flows from the Apache Software Foundation that move files and records between systems and log every step, run beside those systems in Switzerland, the EU or your own datacentre.

Replaces Informatica PowerCenter, Azure Data Factory, Talend

Apache Airflow

Workflow orchestration from the Apache Software Foundation for data teams that write their pipelines in Python, run next to your databases in Switzerland, the EU or your own datacentre.

Replaces Astronomer Astro, Amazon MWAA, Google Managed Service for Apache Airflow

PostgreSQL

Managed PostgreSQL on dedicated machines in Switzerland, the EU or your own datacentre, with backups you can restore to the minute and upgrades you approve.

Replaces Amazon RDS, Azure Database for PostgreSQL

Garage

S3-compatible object storage that keeps every object in three zones, on your own hardware or in the Pilae regions you choose.

Replaces Amazon S3, MinIO, Wasabi

Apache Superset

Business intelligence from the Apache Software Foundation for data teams that write SQL, run next to your warehouse in Switzerland, the EU or your own datacentre.

Replaces Tableau, Power BI

Choosing among the data and streaming apps

This group is the data platform under the dashboards. Apache Kafka carries events between systems as they happen, and Apache Flink computes over them in flight: joins, windows and alerts on the stream. Apache NiFi brings in the systems that do not speak Kafka, such as file drops, databases and partner APIs, and records where every piece came from. Apache Airflow schedules the batch jobs and retries the ones that fail. PostgreSQL holds the tables most of it ends up in, Garage keeps files, checkpoints and backups as S3-compatible objects, and Apache Superset gives analysts SQL and dashboards on top.

Most teams need fewer of these than they expect. Airflow and PostgreSQL cover nightly loads and reports. Kafka earns its place when several systems need the same events within seconds, and Flink when something has to be computed over those events before they land. The Apache projects here are Apache-2.0 with no paid edition of the software itself, so the choice is about what you need to run, not what you need to license.

All of it runs next to the systems that produce the data, on your own hardware or in the Pilae region that already holds it, behind the same private network as the rest of your apps.
